Cancer Screening Program
The Cancer Services Program (CSP) is a cancer screening program that serves Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie Counties and is based at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown. The program screens for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer among New Yorkers between the ages of 40 and 64. Clients with a positive screening receive diagnostic and support services.
We would love to have older Girl Scouts who are seeking service project opportunities become involved in our program. We seek volunteers to staff tables where written material dealing with predominately female cancers is distributed and contact information from prospective clients is collected. The girls would be asked to staff Saturday events during the school year with the possibility of other weekday events during the summer months.
We provide ample training for the girls. A staff member will be with them until they are comfortable staffing a table by themselves.
Our program saves lives every year and would be a very worthwhile cause for interested young women. For further information, please contact Michael Bone, 607-547-3717 or 888-345-0225.
