Our Camps

Amahami & Comstock

Amahami Adventure Center is located about 40 minutes from the city of Binghamton in Deposit, NY, and has over 450 acres and its own private lake; both facilities run overnight resident camps. Comstock Adventure Center is located on Cayuga Lake, about 6 miles from the center of the City of Ithaca, and possesses nearly two miles of lakefront.

Both camps host up to 120 girls per week, and we hire about 30 seasonal staff members each summer. Staff must be willing to commit to working at both Comstock and Amahami Adventure Centers, from June 25th to August 12th, for a total of 6 weeks of summer camp, and 1 week of staff training. The majority of camp will take place at Comstock Adventure Center, with the final week of camp from August 6th - 11th moving to Amahami Adventure Center. Camp runs each week from Sunday at 11AM to Friday evenings (staff are off from Friday evening to Sunday morning each week). Staff also receive one night off a week, and an hour of break each full camp day.

Trefoil

Trefoil Adventure Center is located in Harrisville, NY on the edge of the Adirondack Park. We offer a full resident camp program, as well as offering off-site trips for our older campers.

Staff must commit to working the full summer from June 25th – August 12th (some positions require a starting date of June 22nd). All counselors and leadership staff will be trained to facilitate archery and our high ropes course. All staff will receive time off for the Fourth of July holiday.

Camp runs each week from Sunday at 11AM to Friday evenings (staff are off from Friday evening to Sunday morning each week). Staff will receive breaks throughout the week, as well as a night off.

The minimum age for all positions is 18, unless otherwise stated.

All staff must live on site, with the exception of the Food Service Manager.

Positions Available @ Amahami & Comstock

Counselor

Counselor - $320 per week

The Counselor position is perfect for interested staff who are new to working at summer camp, and are passionate about working directly with our girls in the outdoors. Counselors are responsible for acting as the primary caregiver for their assigned unit campers, including ensuring a safe and healthy environment is maintained, supervising camper behavior, identifying and managing hazards, and promoting the tenets of the Girl Scout Law. All counselors also serve as activity facilitators, and must be willing and able to teach or assist in teaching in at least one of the following camp activity areas: Boating (canoeing, kayaking, rowboating); Sailing; Arts and Crafts; Archery; Sports, Fitness and Field Games; Performing Arts (Music, Theater, Dance); Environmental Education; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Horseback Riding.

Minimum age: 18.

Waterfront Manager

Waterfront Manager - $450 per week

The Waterfront Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning and delivery of all activities at the camp’s waterfront, and ensuring that all waterfront activities occur in a safe and age appropriate manner. The Waterfront Director will regularly employ risk management skills, continuously ensuring camper and employee safety at the waterfront. The Waterfront Director must have a required lifeguarding background of a minimum of two summers of experience as a summer day or resident camp lifeguard OR minimum 18 weeks experience at another aquatics facility that was staffed by more than one lifeguard at a time, in addition to possessing a current Waterfront Lifeguarding certification. The Waterfront Director must also have, or being willing to obtain, Lifeguard Management certification, Motorboat Driver certification (from US Coast Guard or US Power Squadron), and a Progressive Swim Instructor certification (Such as Red Cross WSI or YMCA YSI).

Applicants for this position must be available for mandatory Senior Staff training June 15 – 16th.

Minimum age: 21.

If you are missing any of the above certifications, we are able to assist you in obtaining should you be hired.

Kitchen Aide

Kitchen Aide – Hourly rate $9.75

The Kitchen Aide is responsible for assisting the Food Service Manager and Assistant Cook in providing nutritious, well-prepared meals which are served to all members of the camp community, and be willing and able to work as part of a food service team and operate industrial dishwashing equipment. This position is open to anyone who has an appropriate energy level, who is willing to spend a majority of the day on their feet. That being said, it is a particularly great “first job” for a young adult entering the workforce who is willing to make a commitment and apply a great work ethic.

Work days/hours are Sunday – Thursday 2:30-8PM. This position is not required to live on camp.

This position can serve at Comstock or Amahami only, or at BOTH Comstock and Amahami. This position is paid hourly, not per week.

Minimum age: 15.

Assistant Cook

Assistant Cook – Hourly rate $10.25

The Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting the Food Service Manager in providing nutritious, well-prepared meals which are served to all members of the camp community, and be willing and able to work as part of a food service team and assist directly in preparing and serving food. This position is open to anyone who has an appropriate energy level, who is willing to spend a majority of the day on their feet. This position is not required to live on camp.

This position can serve at Comstock or Amahami only, or at BOTH Comstock and Amahami.

This position will work a schedule of a maximum of 48 hours as set by the Food Service Manager, based upon need. This position is paid hourly, not per week.

Minimum age: 17.

Health Supervisor

Health Supervisor – $730 per week

The Health Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the health and safety of our campers and staff. He/she will be responsible for dispensing camper and staff medications, keeping accurate logs, providing medical treatment as needed, and maintaining the camp’s medical supplies. The Health Supervisor will also be responsible for communicating with parents.

Applicants should have a positive attitude, be comfortable working in the outdoors, and enjoy working with children. Applicants must be a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Emergency Medical Technician (current NYS license). CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider and Wilderness and Remote First Aid is preferred, but not necessary as these can be completed during training.

The Health Supervisor must remain on site for the entire camp week (Sunday morning – Friday night).

Minimum age: 21

Positions Available @ Trefoil

Counselor

Counselor - $320 per week

Our Counselors’ first priority is ensuring the safety of their campers. The second priority is to make sure everyone is having fun! These staff members are responsible for their campers at all times and will plan and lead their activities throughout the day.Activities may include archery, high and low ropes course, crafts, field games, cookouts, campouts, and more!

Counselors serve as camper role models and must demonstrate positive behavior at all times. Counselors will be responsible for cleaning their units to make sure they are ready to go for the next week of campers.

Great counselor qualities include creativity, spontaneity, lots of energy, and great teamwork skills.

Applicants should be willing to have fun, be silly, work well with others, and look forward to spending their entire summer outdoors.

Counselor with Lifeguarding Certification

Counselors with their Lifeguarding Certification will serve the same roles as Counselors (see above), as well as serving as a lifeguard during swimming and boating time.

As a lifeguard, you will be responsible for providing supervision and ensuring a safe environment at the camp’s waterfront. You will be trained in proper paddling and rowing techniques. While at the waterfront you will be managed by the Waterfront Manager.

Lifeguards must have a current Lifeguard certification along with the appropriate Waterfront skills module.

If you do not already have the Waterfront Skills Module, we can complete this certification during training.

Trip Counselor

Trip Counselor - $350 per week

Trip Counselors will serve as the staff for our trip programs. For a full list and description of our trips please see the camp brochure. We offer weeklong trips for our 6th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade campers that include hiking, kayaking, and white water rafting. We also offer a 2 week canoe/backpacking trip for our 9th-12th graders as well as a 1 day trip for our 4th-5th grade campers. While off-site the Trip Counselors will be responsible for providing a safe and fun experience for the campers, while teaching them outdoor skills. Each trip will have 2 Trip Counselors and a maximum of 10 campers. While not off-site, you will serve the same roles as a Counselor (see above).

Trip Counselors must be responsible, mature, and be able to maintain a positive attitude throughout the entire trip to give the campers the best experience.

It is a plus if you are Wilderness and Remote First Aid certified, but it is not a requirement. Hiking, camping, boating, and/or trip experience preferred.

Must be willing to drive the camp van. Trip Counselors must be available for Trip Training starting June 23rd.

Trip Counselor with Lifeguarding Certification

Trip Counselor with Lifeguarding Certification - $375 per week

Trip Counselors with their Lifeguarding Certification will serve the same roles as Trip Counselors (see above), as well as serving as a lifeguard while on trips and while at camp.

Trip Counselors must be available for Trip Training starting June 23rd.

Program Manager

Program Manager - $400 per week

This position is perfect for someone who is organized, detail oriented, and creative! This position is responsible for the planning and coordination of our afternoon Open Programming sessions. In the morning, the Program Manager will design the Open Programming schedule for that day and collect program choices from each camper. The Program Manager will then assign staff to each activity and create a roster of campers for each activity per time slot. This position will also assist in the implementation and planning of evening All Camp activities with assistance from the Camp Director. The Program Manager will also supervise the Counselors and should serve as a positive role model for them.

The Program Manager will serve on the Leadership Team and must be available for training starting June 22nd.

Health Supervisor
