Each and every day, our G.I.R.L.s (Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, Leaders)™ are doing amazing things in their local communities - and we want to see and share it!

We wish we could be everywhere, so that's where we need YOU! You can help us see all the fun and exciting things our troops are doing, and maybe win 1 of 3 Amazon gift certificates we are giving away each month* in the process.

What do you need to do?
Simply post your photo, troop number, location and a 2-3 sentence description of what the troop is doing in the picture in the comments of our monthly Troop Stories post on our official Council Facebook page.

Winners are selected at random at the end of each month. We’ll post the winners here, along with the pictures and stories you share.

April 2019 Troop Story Winners

Girls from Service Unit 141 in Skaneateles, NY, helped their local food pantry deliver Easter food basket to two retirement homes.


About half of the girls from Troop 10032 from Liverpool, NY,  visited Harriet Tubman National Historical Park for NPS Junior Ranger Day. They heard a wonderful talk about Harriet's life, toured the home for the aged she founded, and learned and used archaeology skills before being sworn in as Underground Railroad Junior Rangers.


Troop 40038 of Ontario, NY, is working on their Bronze Award and holding a Kindness Campaign at the elementary and primary school at Wayne Central. They are making kindness kits for primary school teachers in addition to posters and announcements and holding a Kindness Bingo Challenge!

March 2019

Two awesome Cadettes from Troop 10714 of Syracuse, NY, sold cookies in Eastwood. 


Troop 40963 of Waterloo, NY, sold cookies to earn money for a trip to Washington, DC.


Troop 60363 of Liverpool, NY, took a chance at an out-of-area cookie booth and sold out of almost everything! These first-year Juniors are raising funds to attend camp and for activities.

February 2019

Troop 40430 from Newark Valley, NY. They participated in Tioga East Service Unit's annual Cupcake Wars. One of their Daisies won for Best Use of Theme: Girl Scout Cookies! 

Troop 61227 of Fort Drum, NY. They held a food drive to benefit Feed Our Vets in Watertown. They distributed flyers, put out collection bins throughout the housing community, and helped sort, pack, and deliver donations.


Service Unit 101 of Liverpool, NY.  They held a friendship squeeze to close their annual World Thinking Day event. Troops researched and represented 20 different World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts countries, and 175 girls participated! 


January 2019

IRM Rosalie from East Syracuse, NY! This go-getter made a shopping list, went to the store, purchased supplies and made bag lunches for the homeless. She also decorated the lunch bags. Rosalie hopes to continue and grow this project. She says she loved seeing how the lunches put a smile on recipients’ faces. Way to go, Rosalie!  


Troops 60215 & 61216 of Galeton, PA! These risk-takers enjoyed cross-country skiing and sledding during PA Lumber Museum Snow Day.  This was a great way for the troops to stay active and embrace the cold weather with a smile!


Troop 61152 of Endicott and Endwell, NY.  These girls earned a Community Service patch by helping out at the Tioga County Open Door Mission in Owego.  The girls dressed, combed, and packaged up over 200 Barbies  Dolls will be sold at the Mission's thrift store, which benefits it's three food pantries.  The Open Door Mission is a non-profit organization that has served the community for over 50 years. It provides men's sober living, three food pantries, an outreach center and ten recovery meetings. 

December 2018

Troop 61710 of Corning, NY, hosted a PJs for Pals event where they collect brand new pajamas and blankets! They donted everything that they collected to the Steuben County Domestic Violence Shelter.  Pictured is Steuben County Sherriff's Deputy, Brooke Payne, came to visit and helped deliver the 59 pairs of PJs and 18 blankets!

Troop 60997 of Fayetteville-Manlius, NY, spread the gift of friendship and compasion this holiday season.  These daisies visited residents in the Elderwood retirement home who had no visitors.  To make their holidays better they made over 50 holiday cards and sang christmas carols. Good job girls, way to bring smiles to everyone!


Troop 41350 of Newfield, NY, was filled with the holiday spirit! These artist made Christmas cards, filled holiday bags with items they had collected and handed them out to adults and children in need. Thanks for spreading your holiday cheer with your communitty! 


November 2018

Troop 30563 from Endicott, NY attended Cornell's Girl Scout Engineering Day. These innovators did tons of hands on experiments and loved it! 


18 Katie Smith

Troops 40457 and 40176 from Seneca Falls, NY earned their First Aid Badges with North Seneca Ambulance. They are now prepared to intervene with confidence during emergencies they may encounter! 


37 Theresa Hamilton

Emily, an IRM from SU 123 in Marcellus, NY, discovered that her local food pantry needed help replenishing it’s supply. So, this go-getter collected and purchased food to donate to help those in need!

Troop 10015 of Fayetteville-Manlius, NY, earned their Breathe Journey by visiting the Fenner Wind Farm! The girls learned about turbines, how they are built, how tall they are and how air is a clean, renewable energy source! Fun Fact: the blade they are standing next to weighs 70 tons!

Troop 40632 of Penn Yan, NY, learned to sew pillow cases with a local women's group in Yates County. All the cases they made will be given to local veterans on Veterans Day.

Troop 40415 of Waterloo, NY, is proud of their community and wanted to make sure that it stayed pretty. So, they planted flowers, painted parking curbs, swept the parking lot, stained a ramp and did some mulching. Way to go!

September 2018

These Go-getting Juniors from Troop 20477 of Clinton, NY, volunteered during Rise Against Hunger, a community-wide food packaging event. The girls worked with other volunteers to package 40,000 meals for children across the world who don’t have regular access to nutritious food. 

Troop 10273 of Brewerton, NY, saved for two years to earn their way to Hershey Park in PA! These Leaders enjoyed the amusement park and designed their own candy bars in Chocolate World!

Troop 10074 of Fabius, NY, enjoyed two nights of tent camping at Lake Durant Campground, hiking, cooking over a fire and white water rafting on the Hudson River. Through their outdoor adventure, these Risk-takers earned their Trailblazer Badge!

Troop 10566 of Oswego, NY, took a trip to our sister Council, Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York, to visit Camp Woodhaven.

Elizabeth is an Independently Registered Member (IRM) or Juliette from Service Unit 417 in Newark, NY! As an IRM, this Leader worked on her horsemanship and groundwork skills over the summer.

The Go-getters of Troop 40080 of Newark, NY, spent a weekend at Comstock Adventure Center with their Service Unit!

July 2018

The Cadettes and Seniors of Troops 20087 and 20540 of New Hartford, NY assisted with the first pitch at the Utica Blue Sox game! Brianna threw out the first pitch and got to keep the ball!


Troop 40415 from Seneca Falls, NY raised money and went on a tour of Central America! They were able to meet with Girl Guides from Belize! During their trip, the troop donated supplies, painted a meeting space and shared Girl Scout songs and stories!


Troop 40963 of Waterloo, NY volunteered at the Musselman Triathlon in Geneva! They were truly friendly and helpful!

June 2018

Troop 10747 of Fabius, NY learned how to scuba dive! They spent 3 hours learning the rules and regulations and diving into tanks with equipment on! 


Troop 40447 of Towanda, PA exhibited their artistic ability to celebrate the end of the Girl Scout year!    


Troop 40514 of Apalachin, NY helped sort three skids of food from a large donation given to the Owego Mission Food Pantry.    

May 2018

Daisy Troop 60069 of Fabius, NY spent the morning hiking at Highland Forest learning about nature!


Troop 60288 of Port Dickinson, NY went to Amahami Adventure Center and climbed the fire tower for the first time!

 


Troop 10053 of Syracuse, NY helped the homeless by volunteered at the We Rise above the Streets 2nd Annual BBQ! Way to make the world a better place!

April 2018

Each month Troop 10065 of Sandy Creek, NY make placemats for the local soup kitchen. For Easter, they made spring colored hearts out of candy canes to brighten everyone’s day!

 


Troop 30206 of Delhi, NY spent time volunteering at Heart of the Catskills Humane Society - socializing cats, walking dogs, and donating supplies! Paw-some job, girls! 

 


Troop 20477 of Clinton, NY braved snow and cold while camping at Mark Lodge at Hoover. The girls completed their cabin camping and outdoor art badges! WOW!

March 2018

Troop 10981 of Manlius, NY worked their marketing magic at Herb Philipson’s in Syracuse. They worked as a team to take orders, add sales and keep their booth stocked. Way to go, girls!


Daisy Troop 60161 of Seneca Falls, NY had their very first cookie booth, and were continuously supported by their troop leaders and parents!

 


Troop 30135 of Binghamton, NY had a booth at Oakdale Mall, a big challenge for many first-time cookie sellers, but each girl did a fantastic job!

February 2018

Troop 40176 from Waterloo/Seneca Falls, NY sorted donations and collected hygiene products from their service unit for the local food pantry. They also volunteer at the food pantry 2-3 times each month. Way to be Go-Getters and thank you for doing so much for your community!


Troop 40114 and 40870 of Clyde, NY were true Leaders! They brought cans of soup to a recent meeting to donate to the local food pantry run by the church where they hold their meetings. They were able to donate 30 cans!

Troop 10644 from Camillus, NY participated in an “Englampment” Sleepover and took a break for some exercise in the pool! Looks like you had lots of fun at your program, girls!

January 2018

Troop 61238 of North Syracuse grew cat grass and spent time at the Humane Society sharing their treat with some new friends. What a purr-fect project for Innovators like you!


Troop 30307 of Whitney Point had an Olympic-style fun at their lock-in! We can wait to see how else you go for Gold!


Troop 1132 teamed up with their local Dollar General to collect canned goods for the holidays. These girls did an awesome job and collected 59 bags of food that went to their community.

Troop 30481 of Unadilla Valley held a coat drive and collected over 419 needed winter items (jackets, snow pants, gloves/mittens, hats, scarves and new socks) for their community

Members of Groton Cadette Troops 41432 and 60687, along with Groton Junior Troop 40257, decorated holiday cookies and treats and delivered them to the Groton Police and Fire Departments. This yearly tradition is to thank both departments for keeping the community safe, for being involved in the local scouting community and for participating in the troop’s community events.

Troop 40176 & 40457 baked Gingerbread Houses for the upcoming Wonderful Life decorating contest held in Seneca Falls, NY. These girls had to follow the directions to measure, bake, and finally assemble houses to be used in the the event!
