Join us for Fall Family Retreats! Our awesome staff will lead your entire family for a themed weekend of camp activities! We’ll provide everything you need to experience camp the way it’s meant to be. Programs run Friday night through Sunday morning. You’ll get a whole unit to yourselves. We’ll provide outdoor cooking equipment, firewood and fun programming. Staff will be onsite to help you with anything you might need and to make sure you’re comfortable, happy and safe.

Fees: Vary by property, dependent upon sleeping arrangements and activities offered

Group Size: At least 1 member of your family must be a registered Girl Scout, groups limited to 10 or less

Family Camp is not a drop-off program. Staff is on-site to provide instruction, not supervision. Parents/caregivers are expected to supervise their children at all times.

Amahami Adventure Center is in Deposit, NY, in the foothills of the Catskill Mountain region. Amahami offers all campers the opportunity to expand their knowledge, confidence and comfort in nature through an immersive outdoor experience. The property features many beautiful hiking trails, including one to Amahami’s very own fire tower! Amahami is located on a small private lake. Campers may spend the week sleeping in a troop house, cabin or platform tent.

Comstock Adventure Center in Ithaca, NY, is located along the shores of Cayuga Lake. Campers enjoy the unique natural surroundings created by the Finger Lakes while living in beautiful tree-top cabin village units. Comstock features nearly two miles of lakefront, offering a wide variety of water sports and a beautiful location to enjoy the sunrise or sunset. Comstock’s proximity to a variety of popular local destinations allows for many off-camp experiences for campers.

Hoover Adventure Center is in the heart of Central New York, located along the shores of Song Lake in Tully. Hoover has a robust shooting sports program featuring slingshots, archery, BB guns and tomahawk throwing. In addition to shooting sports, Hoover has a beautiful lake for swimming and boating in the warmer months. Campsites available for all comfort levels include lodges, cabins, platform tents and primitive camping on a private island! Hoover’s proximity to Interstate 81 and gently rolling fields make it ideal for first-time campers!

Trefoil Adventure Center is in Harrisville, NY, located on the outskirts of gorgeous Adirondack Park. Campers get the ultimate high adventure and wilderness experience while spending a week in an intimate, outdoorsy setting. Trefoil features GSNYPENN’s only high and low ropes course! With its proximity to Adirondack Park, Trefoil is a great location for any camper looking to explore the outdoors! Most campers spend their week sleeping in a-frame units, or our famous yurt!

Fall Family Retreats FAQ

 

When can we arrive and depart?

All Fall Family Retreats are for the full weekend. Check-in is between 4-6 p.m. on Friday and check-out is at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Early check-in and late check-out are not permitted due to COVID-19 cleaning requirements.

Where do we park?

Campers are only allowed 1 car parked at each unit area. All other overnight cars must remain in the main parking lot.

 

What is provided?

We provide firewood, picnic tables, personal fire pit with wooden logs/benches, garbage bags and recycling bins.

In bathrooms, we provide hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper.

Please refer to your registration confirmation for suggested packing lists and refer to your registration for the exact details of your sleeping arrangements and what is included.

Is food included? Can we cook? Where do we eat?

Food is not included. Families must bring their own food and supplies.

Firewood is provided, and all other supplies must be brought in by your group.

Cooking equipment can be requested when you register. Equipment is available on a first come, first served basis. Complete details are on the registration site.

Cooking accommodations will vary by property. Some overnight guests are provided refrigeration, dependent upon your reservation. Please be sure to check your reservation details for this information.

What is prohibited?

Please do not bring pets, valuables, hand-held video games, weapons, illegal drugs or alcohol.

Due to concerns about the spread of invasive species in NYS waterways, personal watercraft are also prohibited.

Is First Aid provided?

We will not provide supplies for basic First Aid or over-the-counter medication needs. Please bring your own supplies (including Band-Aids, OTCs for pain or allergies, etc.)

In the event of an emergency, a certified staff member trained in higher level First Aid and CPR is available.

All participants (adults and children) are asked to bring a completed health form (refer to your registration confirmation). In the event of a medical emergency, a health form allows staff to properly respond and appropriately alert emergency personnel.

What are the requirements in response to COVID-19?

Each family group is limited to a maximum of 10 attendees (immediate family members only, with at least 1 registered Girl Scout).

Family groups must always social distance from other groups, and when social distancing is not possible, masks are required to be worn. Intermingling between family groups is not permitted.

When being instructed by camp staff and unable to social distance, family members will be required to wear masks. Staff will let families know when they are able to remove masks.

Families are asked to maintain a 10-foot minimum distance away from other families if utilizing a picnic table or laying out in the grass.

Families may only use their assigned storage/changing, water, cooking, eating and sleeping area to ensure a safe, sanitary environment for all.

Camp staff members will undergo a daily health screening before reporting to work. They will also wear masks and maintain regular, proper personal hygiene while working.

All activity equipment will be cleaned and sanitized in between use.

Frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned multiple times a day.

The camp property will be limited to 50% capacity.

Can we use an existing summer camp deposit, cookie rewards or financial aid?

Yes! GSNYPENN members may use an existing summer camp deposit (if they have not yet received a refund), Cookie Dough/cookie rewards or financial assistance. Please email info@gsnypenn.org or call 1.855.213.8555 for more information.
