Camp Agaliha at Harris Hill (day camp) | Elmira, NY

Positions at Agaliha are unpaid volunteer positions called “Sessionals.”

Camp Agaliha is a new day camp, open for a one-week session this summer at Harris Hill Park in Elmira, NY. Agaliha offers girls ages 5-10 a classic camp experience. Campers participate in swimming, nature, STEM, sports and recreation, arts and crafts, plays and skits, and teambuilding activities. A day at Agaliha starts with drop off at 9 a.m. Campers participate in three one-hour programs prior to lunch. After lunch are two one-hour programs along with skits, team building and all-camp activities. Pick-up is daily at 4 p.m., with a brief staff meeting afterwards. All staff participate in a comprehensive training prior to camp in order to be fully prepared.

What we look for in Sessionals:
A love for children and the desire to make an impact. We’re looking for kind, patient, enthusiastic people to dedicate four days of their summer. Make meaningful friendships while being a positive role model and helping girls achieve their goals. All volunteers are expected to enthusiastically participate in all aspects of camp.

What are Sessionals?
Sessional staff are unpaid camp volunteers. They are camp counselors who do it all—play silly games, sing songs, put band-aids on boo boos, start fires and put them out, all while taking great care of our campers. A Sessional can be a parent, past staff member, leader, Service Unit Manager or any adult who understands the value in Girl Scout camp and wants to share the magic. By volunteering their time, Sessionals become a sponsor for a camper, allowing a girl to attend camp for free. Older Girl Scouts who are 16+ can be Junior Counselors. Those interested in becoming Sessionals will go through an application and interview process.

Available Positions:
Program Manager: Minimum age 18
Nature and Outdoor Education Coordinator: Minimum age 18
STEM Coordinator: Minimum age 18
Arts and Crafts Coordinator: Minimum age 18
Counselors: Minimum age 18
Junior Counselors: Minimum age 16
Health Supervisor (EMT certified or higher): Minimum age 21

Work Dates: July 13-July 16

Amahami Adventure Center (resident camp) | Deposit, NY

Positions at Amahami are paid seasonal staff and/or unpaid volunteer staff called “Sessionals.”

Amahami Adventure Center is located in Deposit, NY, in the foothills of the Catskill Mountain region! Our property features beautiful hiking trails, including one to Amahami’s very own fire tower, a private lake, archery range and a newly built rifle range! Girls help plan their week with your help and we offer a diverse mix of outdoor skills (fire building, outdoor cooking, hiking); waterfront skills (boating, swimming, fishing); games (gaga ball, field games, team building activities); shooting sports (archery, riflery, tomahawk throwing); and don’t forget arts & crafts, campfires, songs and the weekly themes! All of this is nestled into 450 acres of land. We are open to all girls ages 7-17. Staff sleep in their own platform tent/cabin near the girls (they do not share living space with campers). All staff and Sessionals participate in a comprehensive training prior to camp beginning.

What do we look for in our staff?
Our camp is for kids. So, we need folks who are flexible, have a sense of humor and don’t mind being silly—all while being comfortable in a rustic camp setting. We need staff who are patient, good leaders and listeners, ready for anything and up for adventure. The Girl Scout mission is “building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.” As a staff member, you’ll guide your campers towards this mission. Join our camp family to create “memories of gold” for you and the girls!

What are Sessionals?
Sessional staff are unpaid volunteers for one, or both, weeks of camp! They are camp counselors that do it all—play silly games, sing songs, put band-aids on boo boos, start fires and put them out, all while taking great care of our campers. A Sessional can be a parent, past staff member, leader, Service Unit Manager or any adult who understands the value in resident camp and wants to help share the magic. Your expertise and knowledge of traditions and camp craft also benefits our paid staff who you will be working alongside of to plan a week of adventures for your unit (approximately 10-30 girls). By volunteering their time, Sessionals become a sponsor for a camper, allowing a girl to attend camp for free. Those interested in becoming Sessionals will go through an application and interview process.
