If you enjoy—and in fact thrive—in the outdoors and are experienced in working with children, we invite you to consider applying for a summer camp position. You may elect to apply to work on staff at Comstock Program Center (Ithaca, NY), Camp Trefoil (Harrisville, NY), or both!
What do we look for in a prospective Camp Staff member?
- High Energy! Stamina is a must to provide our campers the outdoor experiences they are seeking.
- Flexibility! At camp, it important to have, and successfully enact, a “Plan B”.
- A Positive Attitude! Not enough can be said about seeing the glass half full when campers are looking up to you as a role model.
- Also important: A Willingness to Work as a Member of a Team!
Our Team is headed by Senior Camp Administrator/Outdoor Program Manager Karen Lubecki. Ms. Lubecki offers more than 18 years of Camp experience.
Requires leadership ability with camping experience. Experience with the Girl Scout camping program preferred, but not required. Prior experience working with children in a group setting necessary. NYS requirement: minimum age 18. We provide training. See Certification Training provided.
Requires RN, LPN, EMT, or Physician’s Assistant licensure. RN preferred. CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider and Wilderness and Remote First Aid Required. NYS requirement: minimum age 21. We provide training. See Certification Training provided.
Requires ability to work under supervision and be flexible. NYS requirement: minimum age 18.
Requires current and up-to-date lifeguard training (waterfront module required). CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Providers and Wilderness and Remote First Aid required. NYS requirement: minimum age 18. We provide training. See Certification Training provided.
Requires specialist experience in games, high and low elements and introduction activities. A high degree of safety consciousness a must. CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider and Wilderness and Remote First Aid required. NYS requirement: minimum age 21.

Requires current certification in tripping instruction or documented training and experience. CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider required. Wilderness and Remote First Aid certification and experience in backpacking necessary for outdoor activities; lifeguard certification and experience in canoeing required for water activities. NYS requirement: minimum age 21. We provide training. See Certification Training provided.
Staff may elect to work at Comstock, at Trefoil, or both.
RESIDENT CAMP SESSIONS*:
Comstock Program Center (Ithaca, NY): July 5 – July 10, July 12 – July 17, July 19 – July 24
Camp Trefoil (Harrisville, NY): July 26 – July 31, August 2 – August 7, August 9 – August 15 (includes season-end camp close-up day)
REQUIRED PRE-CAMP TRAINING: All staff must attend all days at both camps
At Camp Trefoil: June 22–June 25
At Comstock Program Center: June 26–July 2
ADVANCED TRAINING: Training stipend(s) available
Ropes Course Certification at Camp Trefoil: June 11–June 14
Advanced Safety Training (Location: TBD): June 16–June 19. For select staff in need of waterfront lifeguarding, WSI, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider and Wilderness and Remote First Aid (re)certification prior to residential camp season.
OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS*:
Mom & Me Programs (two programs) at Camp Trefoil: June 5–June 7. Limited staff—Camp Director, Health Supervisor, Waterfront Staff, four Counselors
Grandparents Overnight Programs (two programs) at Camp Hoover (Tully, NY): August 16—August 18. Limited staff.
Camp CEO Program at Comstock Program Center: August 21–August 23. Limited staff.

Certification Training Provided
For staff in need of certifications or renewals, the Council will arrange training and cover training fees.
For staff positions requiring First Aid/CPR/AED training, (i.e. Counselors), hired staff will be required to complete online training prior to Pre-Camp Training. During Pre-Camp, staff will participate in instructor-led skill demonstration sessions to complete the training.
Advanced training, including Waterfront Lifeguard training, WSI, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider and Wilderness and Remote First Aid will be held June 16–June 19 (Location: TBD). A training stipend per course and room and board will be available for staff who participate.
Note: The Council will cover training fees. Staff may be responsible for the cost of books (if required) and in the case of lifeguard training, the cost of a mandatory face mask.
Staff who participate and receive certification through the Council must work for the duration of Camp except as otherwise approved by the Camp Director.

Annual Physical Required
If hired, please note, recent American Camp Association accreditation requirements specify staff must have on file documentation of a physical that was conducted within 12 months of camp attendance (a physical date of August 15, 2014 or after).
