Girl Scout Silver Award

Girls working on their Silver Award will submit paperwork to their troop or group volunteer for approval. Girls also need to submit to council the Silver Award Notification Form prior to beginning the award project and the Silver Award Final Summary Form after completing the award project. When filling in paperwork, be sure to use all five digits of your troop number. The Leader's e-mail address is required as well. There is a roughly one week turn-around time between when paperwork is submitted and when pins can be purchased. Leaders will be notified about how to purchase the pins. The troop is responsible for purchasing a Silver Award pin for each girl that earns the Silver Award.

Here are the forms you will need

Final summary forms must be submitted by March 1, 2014 to be included in our Young Women of Distinction celebration in spring 2014. If your final summary form is submitted after this date, you will be included in Young Women of Distinction in spring 2015.

Where to Direct Questions and Submit Paperwork

If after reviewing the Girl Guidelines, you have additional questions, please feel free to contact an award consultant. (See the list at the bottom of this page.) The award consultants are available to meet with a group of girls and walk them through the award process. To schedule a time to meet with an award consultant, please contact them directly at least one month prior to when you would like them to meet with you. If there is no consultant listed for your county, please send an e-mail to our GSLE Program Manager or call her at 315.698.9400 x2038.

Award Notification and Final Summary reports can be scanned and submitted as attachments to an e-mail message to our GSLE Program Manager (don't forget to attach the documents) or they can be sent via standard mail to the following address:

Money Earning Policy

Sometimes award projects require funds for materials and other aspects of the project beyond what is available in the troop treasury. There are specific restrictions and guidelines for raising funds that girls and troops must follow. Please review and carefully follow the money earning policies listed below. Keep in mind that the Request for Money Earning Activity form must be submitted in time to be approved at least three weeks before the activity takes place.

Planning an Award Ceremony

Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways offers a guide to planning an award ceremony for girls who have completed the Silver Award requirements. View our Silver Award Ceremony packet.
