Girl Advisory Board

What is the GAB?

The GSNYPENN Girl Advisory Board (GAB) was established to give the CEO of Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways guidance on issues facing girls today. The input and advice that is provided to the CEO is shared with the Board of Directors and ultimately sets the direction for Girl Scouting in our jurisdiction.

The GAB is a cooperative learning team and safe place where girls can share their thoughts about what girls need and want, as well as their ideas on how Girl Scouts can be the program of choice for girls today.

Each member year, Cadette/Senior/Ambassador Girl Scouts are invited to apply to join the GSNYPENN GAB within a specified timeframe.

Qualifications toggle arrow

A registered Girl Scout for the current membership year
A Cadette, Senior or Ambassador level Girl Scout for the current membership year
Be comfortable sharing your thoughts, ideas, and feelings about your Girl Scout experience in a group setting
Attend the Annual Meeting in person

Up to 20 girls may be chosen to participate in the GSNYPENN Girl Advisory Board for a one-year term.

Please read the following before applying: 

Girl Advisors have a commitment to attend 75% of meetings. Meetings for the GSNYPENN Girl Advisory Board will be hybrid. Some will take place utilizing the Zoom platform while others will be at our council offices or camp properties. If members are unable to attend meetings they should notify the group either by email, phone or text. If members are not showing up they will be contacted. If attempts are unsuccessful and there is no communication within 2 weeks, parents will be notified. Continued non-participation may result in removal from the Board
Girl Advisors are expected to check their emails frequently, and be responsive to the information sent in them.
Ability to work on 2-4 hours worth of work outside of meeting times per a month
Follow the Girl Scout Promise & Law and act as role models of GSNYPENN and the GAB

Activities toggle arrow

Girl Advisors are often found helping at various events like Cookie Camp, Annual Meeting and Harvest Fests. Hours from these events are used towards their Service to Girl Scouting Bar.
