Are you a performer, natural storyteller, future journalist, photographer, social media influencer or just curious about local news? Do you like to make things, write or be in front of a camera? Love sharing your experience as a Girl Scout with friends, family, classmates and neighbors?
The Media Team might be a great fit for you!
Our members are registered GSNYPENN Girl Scouts at every level and from every corner of the council. In fact, we'd love to have at least one team member from every county we serve.
You do not need to audition or apply. If you have an interest and passion for showing our communities what Girl Scouting is all about, from your point of view, we'd love for you to join!
Our Media Team Girl Scouts:
✅ Participate in cross-council planned and by-request multimedia opportunities as often as works best for their schedules
✅ Work with our professional Marketing staff
✅ Gain real-world communication and creative skills
✅ Help create content for council platforms
✅ Build confidence through public speaking, photo-video-commercial shoots and local news interviews

🎤 Storyteller
Confident, bold, ready to speak up and out? Be a voice for your Girl Scout peers and our council.
What you’ll do:
- Represent GSNYPENN alongside staff during news interviews or at events
- Be featured in videos, commercials and photo shoots
- Help share what Girl Scouting means to you—live or on camera
🎯 Build confidence, public speaking and communication skills!
📸 Digital Creator
Love social media? Always snapping photos or making reels? Help create fun, inspiring content!
What you’ll do:
- Help create posts, videos and stories for our social media
- "Take over” accounts during events or special celebrations
- Show people what being a Girl Scout is really like
🎯 Learn more about social media strategy, creativity and responsible online storytelling!
✍️ Creative Writer
Got a way with words? Love sharing stories or writing about others? Help create content that connects all of our members!
What you’ll do:
- Write articles for our blog
- Help create captions or short stories for our social media
- Interview Girl Scouts, volunteers, alums and staff for spotlights
🎯 Build writing, interviewing and digital communication skills!
🎬 Content Producer
Prefer being behind the camera or designing things? Help make our content come to life!
What you’ll do:
- Shoot photos or videos for council projects
- Help design social posts using Canva or your own tools
- Work with our Marketing team to bring big ideas to life
