Body Image: Council Take Action Project

Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways has begun a council-wide learning and take action project. The Girl Advisory Board, made up of 15 Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors, chose body image as an issue that they think is important to address. This topic was chosen because of how many people it affects and the degree to which society is inundated with images that make girls feel as though they should all look the same.
In 2010 every troop received a packet about body image. Included in the packet is information about body image, resources, and ideas for age-level appropriate activities. We would like all troops to participate in activities that relate to body image throughout the year. We would also like all troops to take part in the council-wide take action project.
