Supply List: Cadette MEdia Journey Supply List
Cadettes put the "me" in MEdia as this journey encourages them to explore the great big multi-media world around them and then remake media to better match the reality they know. Along the way, Cadettes become aware of the value of media, its limitations and effect and the power they have to lead and inspire others.
The three prestigious leadership awards along this journey are: MONITOR, INFLUENCE, and CULTIVATE.
For the Monitor award, you'll "monitor" media and explore how you and others use media in our community. Will this change your media consumption habits? We'll find out.
For the Influence award, you'll do a MEdia Remake project to make media that better represents your reality. You'll then share it to "influence" others in a positive way. What you choose to remake will be your decision--you'll find plenty of ideas along this Journey.
For the Cultivate award, you'll commit to making a positive change in how you use media in your own life--a change that you can "cultivate" so it grows into full-fledged inspiration for others. And you'll put your own unique creative talents to use to symbolize this personal commitment that you're making.
What will be completed during the event:
1. The Monitor
award will be completed.
2. The Influence award will be started and completed outside of the event by the Cadette planning and completing their MEdia Remake project.
3. The Cultivate award, each Cadette will complete once you have completed your MEdia Remake project.
Every Cadette will receive the Google Slides shown during the event. Within the slides are details and examples of MEdia Remake projects and what to do to complete the Cultivate award. Once the Cultivate award is done, then it is time to celebrate the completion of the journey! At that time you can go to your local Girl Scout shop and purchase the MEdia Journey award.
Pre Event Work - This needs to be completed before the event
To earn the Monitor award (the first step in earning the MEdia Journey award), you will need to find out how YOUR community is using media. You will need to decide on who you wanted to survey. Friends? Family? Teachers and school administrators?
On page 3 of the supply list, you will see a Media Survey. You will need to have 10 people fill out the survey and have those surveys with you at the journey event. This is an anonymous survey so you do not need to collect any personal information.
Cadette Girl Scouts will receive a link to the Take Action Google Slides at the end of the event to help them with the planning and completion of their take action project for this journey.
