Would you like to see the sights of Boston and Salem? Join SU 433 on our exciting Girl Scouts in Boston & Salem trip! Our first stop will be to Gloucester where we can go to the beach, have lunch and shop. From there we'll head to the hotel in Peabody. The next day we are off to Boston where we will visit Boston Common, The New England Aquarium, Cheers, Quincy Market, and Faneuil Hall. Day three will be spent in Salem, and includes a Tour of the Salem Witch Museum, The House of Seven Gables and dinner at Longboards, as well as some free time throughout the day to explore. On our fourth and final day we will enjoy a Duck Tour and a visit to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum where will have lunch before heading back home.

Sunday, July 20th:
3:30am - Departure from Mansfield CVS
4:30am - Departure from Towanda Tops Market
5:00am - Departure from Former Kmart in Sayre

11:30am - Arrival in Gloucester, MA

11:30am - 3:00pm - Beach time, lunch, and shopping in Gloucester, MA

3:45pm - Arrival at Hampton Inn Boston/Peabody - 59 Newbury Street - Route 1 North Peabody, MA, 01960
     Hampton Inn Boston/Peabody will be your home base for this trip. Located on Route 1 North and 8 miles from Salem, MA, Hampton Inn Boston/Peabody boasts a salt/saline-water indoor pool, fitness center and 24 hour front desk. You will find signature Cloud Nine beds in every room along with coffee machine, hairdryer, private bathroom, and flat-screen TV with cable channels.

Among these, Northshore Mall features Nordstrom, Macy*s, J.Crew, Ann Taylor, LL Bean, DSW, Brooks Brothers, The Children's Place, JD Sports, Sephora, H&M and many more! In addition to traditional shopping, guests can enjoy restaurants including Tony C's Sports Bar & Grill, Legal Sea Foods, Not Your Average Joe's, Amigo's Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar, The Cheesecake Factory, The Double Bull Taphouse, sweetgreen, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Cafe Bistro in Nordstrom, as well as options in the Dining Pavilion!

10:15am - Arrival in Boston. Enjoy free time in Boston Common & the Boston Public Garden
     The Boston Common is a public park in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. It is the oldest city park in the United States. Boston Common consists of 50 acres of land bounded by five major Boston streets: Tremont Street, Park Street, Beacon Street, Charles Street, and Boylston Street. The Boston Public Garden is the first public botanical garden in the United States.

11:15am - Depart on foot to Cheers Boston

11:30am - Arrive and check-in to Cheers Boston for lunch

11:30am - 1:00pm - Lunch at Cheers Boston
     Lunch is included at Cheers Boston. Founded in 1969 as the Bull & Finch Pub, Cheers Beacon Hill became the original inspiration for the setting of the TV show Cheers. In fact, the year that the Cheers show premiered on television (1982) Boston Magazine chose the Bull & Finch Pub as the "Best Neighborhood Bar" in Boston. So how did a Boston pub become the inspiration for Cheers? When the producers of the TV show went looking for a location to depict the ideal American bar, they headed to Boston, famous for colorful pubs, sports teams, and lively politics.

1:00pm - Depart on foot on the Freedom Trail to the New England Aquarium
     We will see a portion of the Freedom Trail. Walk Into History and experience more than 250 years of history on Boston's iconic Freedom Trail- the 2.5-mile red line leading to 16 nationally significant historic sites, each one an authentic treasure. Preserved and dedicated by the citizens of Boston in 1951, the Freedom Trail is a unique collection of museums, churches, meeting houses, burying grounds, parks, a ship, and historic markers that tell the story of the American Revolution and beyond.  Today the Freedom Trail is a world-renowned, signature tourist experience attracting over 4 million people annually to visit Boston's precious 17th-, 18th- , and 19th-century sites. Follow the footsteps of America's founding fathers on the Freedom Trail!

1:45pm - Arrival at the New England Aquarium

2:00pm - 4:30pm - Enjoy time to explore the New England Aquarium
     Admission is included at the New England Aquarium. The New England Aquarium is a nonprofit organization located in Boston, Massachusetts. The species exhibited include harbor and northern fur seals, California sea lions, African and southern rockhopper penguins, giant Pacific octopuses, weedy seadragons, and thousands of saltwater and freshwater fishes. In addition to the main aquarium building, attractions at Central Wharf include the Simons Theatre.

4:30pm - 7:00pm - Free time in the Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall area for shopping & dinner

7:00pm - Depart Boston for hotel

7:30pm - Arrival back at the hotel. Enjoy the rest of the evening for relaxation

10:00am - Arrival in Salem and at the Salem Witch Museum. 19 Washington Sq N, Salem, MA 01970
    Admission is included at the Salem Witch Museum. The Salem Witch Museum examines one of the most enduring and emotional events in American History, the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. The museum consists of two presentations. The first provides an immersive look into the events of 1692. Visitors experience the drama of that dark time though thirteen life-size stage sets, figures, lighting and narration as they are witness to the web of lies and intrigue of the Salem witch-hunt.
The second exhibit, Witches: Evolving Perceptions, explores the meaning behind the word witch and evolution of the image of the witch over time. This presentation focuses on the European witch trials and the background leading to the Salem Witch Trials. In addition, this presentation discusses the emergence of the stereotypical witch and the phenomenon of witch-hunting.

2:00pm - Arrival at The House of Seven Gables - 115 Derby St, Salem, MA 01970
    Admission is included at The House of Seven Gables. In 1668, merchant and shipowner John Turner I, and his wife Elizabeth Robinson Turner, built a house on Salem Harbor that was destined to become one of America's most beloved historic homes. Designated a National Historic Landmark District in 2007, The House of the Seven Gables is best known today as the setting of world-renowned American author Nathaniel Hawthorne's 1851 novel. But it is so much more! Learn about four centuries of inclusive history at one of America's most beloved historic homes.

Noon - Depart for John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum

12:30pm - Arrive at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum - Columbia Point, Boston MA 02125
     Admission and lunch are included at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum. The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is dedicated to the memory of our nation's thirty-fifth president and to all those who through the art of politics seek a new and better world. Located on a ten-acre park, overlooking the sea that he loved and the city that launched him to greatness, the Library stands as a vibrant tribute to the life and times of John F. Kennedy. Come tour our Museum which portrays the life, leadership, and legacy of President Kennedy, conveys his enthusiasm for politics and public service, and illustrates the nature of the office of the President.
