Our council is excited to offer GSNYPENN Girl Scouts in grades 9-12
the opportunity to attend the Global Leadership Conference at
beautiful Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I., for a weekend to
remember! Opportunities abound to engage with women changing the world
and interact with other amazing peer leaders from more than 10 Girl
Scout councils.
A regional Girl Scout tradition spanning 37
years, the Global Leadership Conference (formerly the Senior
Leadership Conference) has seen great change since its early days and
has grown from a small gathering to a multi-day conference addressing
the changing world our Girl Scouts face. Previous events sponsored by
Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England featured timely discussions
and exciting guest speakers while celebrating our powerful Girl Scout
sisterhood. Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains has continued
the tradition since 2018.
Girl Scouts will choose three
75-minute workshops to attend from over 40 offerings led by
outstanding female consultants. Topics include STEAM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), global issues, social
justice, personal growth/health/fitness, stress management techniques,
human trafficking, college prep issues, financial literacy, sensitive
topics such as depression/suicide and gender identity and LGBTQI
issues.
The GIRL van will depart from our Syracuse Service
Center at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. School excuse letters will be provided
to Girl Scouts who register for this trip.
Costs include: ticket
to the conference, transportation and lodging, dinner on Friday, all
meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.
