On September 28, my troop visited the 10th annual Girls in Aviation Day event hosted by the Soaring Capital Eagles chapter of Women in Aviation International at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. At this event, I learned that there are special maps for pilots. On these maps are circles to help pilots find where the airports are and which airport towers to talk to for takeoff and landing. We also got to make paper airplanes and fly them!

My favorite part of the day was exploring the airplane because I got to see what the inside of one looks like. I also got to sit in a seat with the tray down and pretend that I was on a flight.
We ended our day by cheering on veterans in the Honor Flight parade. They had returned from visiting monuments in Washington, D.C., including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. As Girl Scouts, we learn to be considerate and caring. We honored our country that day by supporting and cheering on our veterans.
