Syracuse, N.Y. (April 24, 2024) — With local school districts on spring break this week, caregivers may be looking ahead to summer and how to keep children engaged while fostering independence and unplugging from screens. The Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways (GSNYPENN) Council offers a variety of day and overnight summer camps at its four outdoor properties. Programs are not only for registered Girl Scouts but any K-12 youth depending on property and session.
“The benefits of camp are endless. Kids are immersed in nature, stay active and off screens, and take safe risks in a nurturing space while fostering courage, confidence, resilience, independence and community,” says Liz Schmidt, GSNYPENN’s Vice President of Property & Programs. “At GSNYPENN camps, youth learn leadership skills, build social connections with peers and trusted adults, try new things, challenge themselves and explore the wonders of nature at our amazing properties.”
Summer camp programs run in July and August. Caregivers can learn more and register at girlslovecamp.org. Registration is rolling as sessions fill, through the end of June. Financial assistance is available for registered GSNYPENN members.
All camps are also looking for caring, trusted and dedicated staff. Day camp counselors must be at least 16 and overnight camp counselors must be at least 18. Learn more at gsnypenn.org/careers.
