Do campers bring their lunch to day camp? toggle arrow

Yes, campers should bring a lunch and a water bottle. An afternoon snack will be provided to all campers.

Can boys attend day camp? toggle arrow

Yes, boys are welcome at most sessions at Hoover Day Camp.

Some weeks will be girls-only and will be indicated by week.

What is the waterfront like? toggle arrow

Hoover is located on scenic Song Lake. The lake is owned by the Song Lake Association, which does not permit public access, so our waterfront remains fairly quiet and calm.

We have a swimming area divided into sections for different swimming abilities. Water shoes are required to be worn by all swimmers. We have canoes, rowboats and kayaks. We also have our own private island, Girl Scout Island, that is perfect for troops looking to go primitive camping.

Song Lake is a kettle lake that occasionally experiences algae blooms. In this case, water games will substitute swimming.

How many campers will be at camp at a time? toggle arrow

We will have approximately 35-55 campers at Day Camp.

When is day camp drop-off and pick-up time each day? toggle arrow

Drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up is from 4:30-5 p.m. at Hoover.

Busing is available for an additional $50 per camper per week from Destiny USA (in Syracuse) and/or Wegmans in Dewitt.

Is financial assistance available? toggle arrow

Yes, financial assistance is available for registered Girl Scouts. We want every Girl Scout to be able to experience camp regardless of their financial situation. Please register for camp first to hold your spot, and then submit this aid request form online.

What if I have to cancel? toggle arrow

Cancellation notifications will only be accepted in writing to info@gsnypenn.org. Refunds for cancellations (excluding the deposit) are made only if the notification is received by prior the registration deadline, which is June 18, 2027.

After the registration deadline has passed, refunds (excluding the deposit) may only be given if someone on the waitlist can fill the spot. If there is no waitlist, no refund will be issued.

A cancellation may qualify for a refund (excluding the deposit) if the cancellation is due to a qualified medical reason. A written refund request (along with a doctor’s excuse) must be received within two weeks of the cancellation or program date.

Deposits for camps are non-refundable.

Please email info@gsnypenn.org with questions or a cancellation request.
