Binghamton, N.Y. (February 20, 2024) — Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways (GSNYPENN) is celebrating Girl Scouts’ founder, Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low, during Girl Scout Week this March with a special two-day event in Binghamton.
“Juliette: Our Remarkable Founder” runs March 15-16 and offers programming geared for girls and adults dedicated to learning more about Low and the rich history of the Girl Scout Movement.
All Girl Scouts, their families, volunteers, alums and the community are invited to attend. Learn more about the full slate of activities and how to purchase tickets and branded event merchandise (stickers, shirts, totes, books, etc.) at gsnypenn.org/ourfounder.
The weekend begins with a fundraising dinner Friday evening where attendees will learn about Low from her great-niece, Margaret Seiler, and Stacy A. Cordery, Professor of History at Iowa State University and an acclaimed author. Cordery was inspired to write Low’s biography after a career studying other pathbreaking figures ignored or forgotten by history.
Saturday is focused on hands-on programming and activities for all ages at The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier including a meet and greet with Seiler and Q&A with Cordery. Sing Girl Scout songs, share sisterhood and enjoy Girl Scout traditions. Girl Scout Brownies-Ambassadors can earn their Girl Scout Way badge while Daisies can earn their Vi: Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout petal.
Proceeds from the event support GSNYPENN programming, including the new Girl Scout Museum space at the council’s Service Center in Maine, N.Y.
