Camp Trefoil

Camp Trefoil

Harrisville, N.Y. • Est. 1949

Located on the edge of the Adirondacks, Trefoil offers our only high and low ropes course and water trampoline on our private, serene lake!

This intimate, outdoorsy setting provides adventure, new friends and lasting memories. Campers can earn badges, learn more about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, and explore sustainability and homesteading. They can also interact with and care for farm animals and our extensive garden.

Not sure if you’re ready to come to camp overnight? Check out our Troop and Family Days at Amahami and Trefoil to participate in fun activities! Bring your lunch and sense of adventure as you spend half the day with our expert staff, participating in activities like archery, a ropes and challenge course and water sports. Explore our properties with your troop or family, doing self-led activities including hiking, crafts and more!

If you are interested in overnight accommodations, please email us at info@gsnypenn.org. Please note that there will be no food service at Amahami or Trefoil during our Troop and Family Days. Overnight accommodations are available at an additional fee.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is Girl Scout camp just for Girl Scouts? toggle arrow

No! Our overnight camps are open to all girls, and we encourage campers to bring a friend, Girl Scout or not.

If your camper would like to become a registered Girl Scout before camp, join here! Non-members have a $40 fee added during the camp registration process.

What activities are offered? toggle arrow

Activities at Trefoil include swimming, boating, archery, slingshots, tomahawk throwing, high and low ropes courses, gaga ball, basketball, volleyball, tetherball, crafts, games, a water trampoline, a floating inflatable rock wall (“The Iceberg”), campfires, outdoor cooking and more! Some activities are age-restricted.

Troop Core Camp: $90 per Girl Scout, $50 per adult, adults within ratio required

Do I register my camper based on their current grade in school? toggle arrow

No, camp registration is based on the grade that your camper is entering for the 2027-28 school year. Girl Scout levels are as follows:

Daisy: Grades K-1
Brownie: Grades 2-3
Junior: Grades 4-5
Cadette: Grades 6-8
Senior: Grades 9-10
Ambassador: Grades 11-12

Where do campers sleep? toggle arrow

Campers will stay in a cabin unit or yurt with other campers their age. Cabin units consist of multiple 4-person platform cabins. These cabins have wood sides, a roof and canvas fronts and backs.

What are some favorite Trefoil traditions? toggle arrow

Some of our favorite traditions include opening and closing campfires, our wishboat ceremony and Thanksgiving dinner every Thursday! We love introducing fun new activities each year while continuing our longstanding traditions.

What does a typical day look like? toggle arrow

Campers typically spend the morning participating in activities with their unit. After lunch, we break for rest hour when campers can take a nap, write a letter home or quietly hang out with their cabinmates. In the afternoon, campers get to choose which activities they participate in during Open Programming. After dinner, the whole camp gets together for an All Camp activity. After All Camp, we begin to settle down for the night so we can do it all again the next day!

What is the waterfront like? toggle arrow

We have our own small, private lake called Snyder Lake! Since we have it all to ourselves, it is perfect for swimming and boating for beginners and experts.

The swimming area is divided into multiple sections. Campers will undergo a swimming assessment to determine their swimming ability, which will determine which sections they can go in. We also have a water trampoline and inflatable rockwall for extra fun in the water. We have canoes, rowboats, kayaks, funyaks and corcls for campers to use.

What are the ropes courses like? toggle arrow

Our Low Ropes Course is open to all ages. It has a series of ground elements used to help campers develop teamwork and communication skills.

Our High Ropes Course has 11 elements, including a zip line! The elements are divided into areas based on difficulty.

The Flying Squirrel element is open to all ages and abilities. The beginner and intermediate sections of the course and the zip line are for grades 4 and up. The advanced section is for grades 6 and up.

We emphasize that our courses are “challenge by choice.” Campers are encouraged to set goals and challenge themselves to meet those goals. Whether their goal is to be the best cheerleader from the ground, to climb to the top of the ladder or to conquer the whole element, we will cheer them on no matter what.

The High Ropes Course is a great way to build courage, confidence and character at camp!

How many campers are at camp at a time? toggle arrow

Each week, we will have a maximum of approximately 60 campers. This allows us to maintain the close-knit camp community that we love at Trefoil.

If your camper knows someone from another age group at camp, they will have plenty of opportunities to see each other at meals, All Camp and during Open Programming.

Where do I submit my camper's health information? toggle arrow

After registering for camp, you will receive an email inviting you to create an account with CampDoc. You will submit all health paperwork and complete all camper forms in your CampDoc account.

The below forms must be filled out by a physician:

Physical Form
Permission to Dispense Medication Form

Can my camper be in the same cabin as their friend? toggle arrow

Yes, we honor 1 buddy request per camper. Please email the camp director with your request. Please ensure both campers request each other. Buddies must be registered for the same program and be in the same age group.

Not coming to camp with a buddy? No worries! Camp is a place to make new friends.

What if I have to cancel? toggle arrow

Cancellation notifications will only be accepted in writing to info@gsnypenn.org. Refunds for cancellations (excluding the deposit) are made only if the notification is received by prior the registration deadline, which is June 18, 2027.

After the registration deadline has passed, refunds (excluding the deposit) may only be given if someone on the waitlist can fill the spot. If there is no waitlist, no refund will be issued.

A cancellation may qualify for a refund (excluding the deposit) if the cancellation is due to a qualified medical reason. A written refund request (along with a doctor’s excuse) must be received within two weeks of the cancellation or program date.

Deposits for camps are non-refundable.

Please email info@gsnypenn.org with questions or a cancellation request.

Is financial assistance available? toggle arrow

Yes, financial assistance is available for registered Girl Scouts. We want every Girl Scout to be able to experience camp regardless of their financial situation. Please register for camp first to hold your spot, and then submit this aid request form online.
